Provincial Cancer Services is the provincial health authority operating cancer facilities and programs in Alberta. Services include cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, research and education.

Provincial Cancer Services is also responsible for coordinating, in cooperation with other agencies, the planning, development and delivery of provincial cancer initiatives.

Our Vision: A Cancer Free Future

The term Cancer Free Future reflects our commitment to solving the problem of cancer in all its complexity, across the continuum of prevention, treatment and support, with research and surveillance as integral components. We are committed to applying the highest standard to all cancer disciplines.

2025 Milestones

We strive toward our vision by focusing on a common purpose to achieve the following: instead of the numbers of cancers and cancer deaths predicted for 2025, we are committed to having

  • 35 per cent fewer people developing cancers;
  • 50 per cent fewer people dying of cancers; and support to eliminate or reduce the suffering of every Albertan living with cancer.

Mission

We are committed to a leadership role to reduce the burden of cancer through excellence in prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, palliation, education and research.
