Responsibilities/Duties:

Reporting to the Manager/Supervisor of the Forensic Adolescent Program of the Southern Alberta Forensic Psychiatry Service, this is a specialized professional role designed to provide clinical mental health assessment and treatment of the Forensic Adolescent population. Provide resource information, planning/development and delivery. The position is to promote best practice methods, and standards for service providers and stakeholders with youth/young adults involved in the Forensic Adolescent Program. This position is responsible for completion of comprehensive psychosocial assessments, participate in community development activities. This position also provides consultation and liaison to other health, mental health and community care providers to facilitate a coordinated network of mental health services. Regular consultation with community partners, i.e. probation, youth court, and Calgary Young Offender Centre. Responsibilities include working with a multidisciplinary team in completing court ordered assessment (Sect 34 under the YCJA).

Qualifications:

  • MSW in Social Work.
  • Current registration (RSW) with Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) required.
  • A member of the Clinical Social Work Registry with ACSW and Authorized to Perform Restricted Activity.
  • Minimum of 3 years of advanced clinical experience in Forensic Adolescent Mental Health.
  • Experience and advanced skill in providing therapy to individuals and families.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Ability to perceive and communicate role of the department in service delivery.
  • Demonstrated leadership and facilitation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities and work demands.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience working collaboratively with other community services, stakeholders, partnerships and community interests.
  • Ability to foster a participative and collaborative work environment.
