The Unit Manager will report directly to the Patient Care Manager and assist the leadership team in ensuring the provision of high quality and safe patient care in the Medicine Ambulatory Outpatient Care Clinics at the University of Alberta Hospital site. The Unit Manager will work with the multidisciplinary team in the various clinics to ensure a team environment; quality patient care and participate in the implementation of new care initiatives. The Unit Manager's primary role is to support optimum patient care and areas operations through the effective management of clinics fiscal, human, and material resources.
Current CARNA registration, Current Basic Life Support (BLS) - Healthcare Provider Registration required. 3 to 5 years of current, recent and relevant acute care, Medicine/Surgery nursing experience is required. A positive and enthusiastic attitude is required, as is a willingness to actively tackle new challenges. A Baccalaureate degree in nursing is required. A minimum of 1-2 yrs supervisory experience is required. Management experience preferred. Exposure to Ambulatory Care is an asset. The successful candidate must have a proven record of demonstrating skills in leading teams, developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships, and team building; as well as organizational, analytical judgment, change management and decision making skills; effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated clinical expertise is required to make quick decisions in a very busy care setting. Must have the ability to function as a team member. Computer skills in Microsoft word, and ePeople.
Salary/ Benefits: This position is classified as a M2. Minimum: $75,000 to Maximum $117,000 annually.
