Minimum: 32.29 per hour Maximum: 41.50 per hour
Under general direction, the respiratory therapist:
  • plans, implement and evaluates diagnostic & therapeutic respiratory care and services to assist physicians in the diagnosis and management of patients with cardiopulmonary and related disorders;
  • participates actively in the education of patients, students, staff, physicians and self;
  • provides technical support for all equipment related to the hospital based practice of Respiratory Therapy.

    Current area of work assignment is ICU/Wards/ED however the assigned area may change based on operational need.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy required..
  • Possess a current practice permit on the General Register of the College and Association of Respiratory Therapist of Alberta.
  • Current Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists registered member preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience preferred.
  • BCLS certification required.
  • Current general duty Respiratory Therapy knowledge and skills required.
  • Current ICU/Wards/ED experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative, take responsibility and self-organize in a team environment essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and handle competing priorities essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on a multi-disciplinary patient care team essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact positively with staff, students, physicians, patient and visitors essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate effectively for patients essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing required.
  • Basic computer user skills required.
  • Recent clinical experience in all aspects of Respiratory Therapy preferred (assist in acute operational demands).
