Position Overview:
Reporting to the Care manager of Child & Adolescent Addiction & Mental Health Youth Addiction Services, the Psychologist I will function as a pivotal member of a multi-disciplinary team. This position will provide coaching and support to a minimum of 9 regulated and non-regulated staff in the areas of addiction / mental health and risk assessment, triage and referral, and brief intervention with adolscents and families. The Psychologist I will also be involved in case conferences, staff meetings, professional development activities, and will liaise with other AHS and community partners.
Responsibilities/Duties:
The Psychologist I will provide clinical leadership and support a wide array of programs based out of Youth Addiction Services Calgary. Duties include the clinical supervision of a number of regulated (i.e. Provisional Psychologists) and non regulated staff, attending relevant meetings, and on-going collaboration with external service providers. The Psychologist I will work closely with Program Supervisors to ensure staff are well supported while delivering high quality of services to families.
Completion of a Masters degree or PhD in Psychology from an accredited university programCurrent registration with the College of Alberta PsychologistsA minimum of 5 years of practice as a Registered Psychologist A minimum of 3 years providing clinical supervision A minimum of 3-5 years working with adolescents and families experiencing addiction / mental health concerns An advanced understanding of the trans-theoretical model of change, motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy, narrative therapy, CBT, group process, and assessmentAdvanced certification in the area(s) of family, group or individual therapy preferred. Proven collaborative leadership and organizational skills with individuals, interdisciplinary teams and other departments and partner service providers Flexibility, adaptability and an attitude of innovation is required for practice within an evolving continuum of care and continuous change environment. Self-directed and highly motivated. Excellent organizational and administrative skills are required.
